Welcome to Machen Elementary School!



Luther W. Machen Elementary School is located near Langley Air Force Base in the Tide Mill Farms neighborhood in Hampton, Virginia.  Machen Elementary School will do whatever it takes to ensure student learning and build a sense of confidence, respect, responsibility, and motivation within all students. 7:30am-2:05pm

PLEASE HELP OUR CHILDREN BE ON TIME AND IN SCHOOL EVERY DAY!

Our children develop school habits during the elementary years.  Please help us teach them the importance of being in school, and on time every single day.  These are life skills that will help them as they grow into adulthood. Punctuality and regular school attendance are vital for our students’ academic success.

There will always be times when a child may be sick and cannot attend school.  In this case, please call the school to let them know that your child will be out.  However, please note that we must have a written excuse for any absence to be considered excused.

Students are expected to be in their classrooms by 7:30.  It is preferable for students to enter their classroom at 7:20 each morning.

Students who arrive to school at 7:30 or later are considered tardy, and an adult must sign them in at the Main Office.  Tardies are only excused with a doctor’s note.
